The Sandy Cape is our lightweight rear drawer system for touring wagons, built around a 30L or 40L drawer fridge. It's CNC machined from composite instead of plywood, so the whole setup, fridge and table included, weighs less than most plywood systems do before the fridge even goes in. Installation is available at our Neerabup workshop for $400.

Why It's Lighter
A traditional plywood system of this style typically weighs 112 to 150 kg before a fridge is even added. The Sandy Cape comes in at 70 to 80 kg with the fridge and table in.
If you're removing your rear seats, most wagons lose 40 to 65 kg straight away. Once the Sandy Cape and false floor are in, the net added weight is often only around 30 to 40 kg. That is bugger all.
Lightweight doesn't mean weak. Proper load paths instead of overbuilt material, no flex, no rattles. We've built close to 100 of these and they're out touring, working and being used hard. If there were issues, we'd know.

FAQ
What vehicles does it suit?
A wide range of touring wagons. Fitment depends on vehicle model, rear seat configuration and intended use. Send us your vehicle details and we'll confirm suitability before booking.
Will it rattle or flex off road?
No. It's designed with proper load paths and structural reinforcement, and when installed correctly it doesn't flex or rattle on corrugations or rough tracks.
Can I add a 12V system later?
Yes. There's pre cut access for a future battery and charger, so you can add electrics later without modifying the drawers. An optional 12V switchboard panel can be added when a 12V system goes in.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, it can be supplied only. We recommend getting us to install it for $400 so it's fitted and bolted down properly for off road use.
Does it affect payload, GVM or GCM?
Keeping weight low helps preserve payload, and in many cases can reduce or delay the need for a GVM or GCM upgrade. Customers are responsible for keeping their vehicle compliant.
